1.How would you approach/resolve the above circumstance for the insurance agency?

I think that they should offer their product at the same price as the other insurance company then their will be no conflict cause they will be both at the same level.

2. Provide another case of channel conflict you  can think of. What style of resolution was used?

Apple problem in 2007 was they were trying to drive customers toward the Apple stores and away from the establishments that sold Apple products, causing channel conflict.Due to other store becoming upset. There wasn’t really any resolution non apple stores just had to maintain their long term relationships with customers and other individuals such as schools that need apple products.

Q1: eBay is one of the only major Internet “pure plays” to consistently make a profit from its inception. What is eBay’s business model? Why has it been so successful?

ebays business model focuses on selling products in bulk instead of individually, and the products are usually sold to other eBay business owners.This has been so successful because with eBay customers can literally buy pretty much any product and usually the product would be cheaper then the businesses the a customer can by the product from.

Q2: Other major web sites, like Amazon.com and Yahoo!, entered the auction marketplace with far less success than eBay. Are they still offering auctions? How has eBay been able to maintain its dominant position?

Yes eBay is still offering auctions. Since eBay has other individuals selling products for them and they have become such a popular site with customers buying multiple products and also are a worldwide site they have been able to stay on top.

Q3: What method does eBay use to reduce the potential for fraud among traders on its site? What kinds of fraud, if any, are eBay users most susceptible?

The method eBay uses is through the reviews of other customers and ratings stating if the sellers products are good or bad. eBay is susceptible to fake items, meaning items that are different from what the seller stated they were.

Q4: eBay makes every effort to conceptualize its users as a community (as opposed to, say “customers” or “clients”). What is the purpose of this conceptual twist and does eBay gain something by doing it?

Making everyone a community means that people feel included in something meaning they will most likely won’t to keep on using the site because of that inclusion.

Q5: eBay has long been a marketplace for used goods and collectibles. Today, it is increasingly a place where major businesses come to auction their wares. Why would a brand name vendor set-up shop on eBay?

They would set up shop because eBay has such a wide range of customers and also because eBay is pretty much 24/7 meaning anyone can shop at a any time.

Yes I think they can. Since they would be very fast and able to inform the customers with the answers they seek more quickly.

Question 1

a) What experiences have you had with shopping online?

I have had very limited experiences with online shopping, but the ones I do have are sometimes positive but cab be negative as well. Such as not receiving the package on the right date even though paid extra for faster delivery.

b) Describe a good experience.

A good experience is receiving the product you ordered on the right date or even earlier and the product was exactly hat it looked like in the picture and fit perfectly.

c) What did you like about the online store you used?

You could use PayPal to pay for the product you were buying which is a say site to transact money through.

d) Describe a bad experience.

When I bought a costume paid for express deliver and didn’t receive it on time then when I tried to contact them to return it they bluntly ignored me so I couldn’t return the item.

e) What problems did you have with the online store?

They basically wouldn’t let me return the item.

f) What features make an online store more appealing?

Paypal, good customer service, great reviews, pictures of all angle of the product.

g) What features make an online store less appealing?

Bad reviews, not having PayPal, no pictures

h) Should we expect to see the prices of goods and services rise or fall due to the migration of consumers online?

I think the prices of goods and services will rise due to the migration of consumers online.

I agree.

b) The importance of brand names will decrease.

No I think the importance will increase due to more brands becoming popular.

c) Price competition will make all products cheaper.

Yes I agree, more competition means customers are going to look for the lowest prices and therefore products become cheaper.

d) Digital markets will become dominated by a handful of mega-sites, like Amazon.com.

Yes I think this is possible.

e) How do you think the balance of power between buyer’s and seller’s will change?

I think since there is more competition between businesses customers will have the upper hand since they are looking for the cheapest product.

Why is a customer centric Web site design is so important, yet so difficult to accomplish?

A customer centric website is so important because the reasons an individual creates a website is so that the website reaches a specific goal and market targets within the large span of the internet. So if a website is customer centric then they will be able to further the increase of customers stopping on there website. 

A customer centric website is so difficult to accomplish because is very expansive to get a website created, as well as getting the website done correctly. Also it is hard to match the website to customers needs.

Define the term ‘presence’. Write an additional paragraph that describes why firms that do business on the Web should be more concerned about presence than firms that operate in the physical world.

Firms that do business online are more concerned about presence then firms that operate in a physical word because with being in the physical world it’s easier to know who you’re customers are due to face to face interaction. Though with online you probably need to keep track of your online presence more due to not having that face to face interaction.In the physical world businesses automatically know if business is bad but online they would have to keep more track of online presence.

3.The future for business is around SaaS and mobile devices. What are your thoughts on this statement? 

I think that this statement is 100% true. Mobiles are already a tool that allow customers to have easy access to a businesses website.
